The human body was designed for activity so regular exercise is very important to help you to feel better every day and let’s not forget along with a healthy diet.

Your heart will grow stronger, as well as your bones and ultimately you will look and feel better physically and mentally! Getting fit and active in a group environment is also a huge positive for your mental health, as you will usually make friends and be able to socialise as well as become a fit and active person at the same time.

Even if your lives may be quite busy, you should still have regular fitness as one of your ‘must do’s’ for the week.

Melton City Council have acknowledged the importance of keeping fit and active, therefore have organised FREE activities in and around Melton, to encourage the Melton community to move their body!

Mums n Bubs PT

Where? Kurunjang Recreation Reserve

When? Thursdays at 9.15am from 26 February until 2 April 2015

This class gives women the ability to get active without having to put their kids in child care, although you don’t have to have a child to attend.

Bring your yoga matt, babies/infants and some toys for them to play with, or keep them in the pram.

The sessions last for about 45 minutes which gives you a great amount of time to get active and to be able to look after your young children.

Pilates in the Park

Where? Town Centre Recreation Reserve, Caroline Springs

When? Tuesdays 10.00am from 24 February until 31 March 2015

Focus on your breathing as well as your core strength and a range of other different movements. Babies in prams are welcome.

Kids Get Active!

Where? Kurunjang Recreation Reserve

When? Mondays 9.30am from 23 February until 30 March 2015.

This class focuses on getting preschool age kids up and moving. Activities include throwing, catching, kicking and hitting with child friendly equipment. Parents are expected to supervise children. An extra bonus is that this is a free event!

Toolern Creek Park Run

Meet near dirt car park beside Bridge Road Children’s and Community Centre

When? Every Saturday, at 8:00 AM

Parkrun offers free weekly, timed, 5 km runs. There are 14 different locations in Victoria and we are proud to announce that Melton are a part of that 14! You can run at your own pace and it welcomes all ages and abilities.

It is compulsory that you register online with Parkrun to get your barcode to ensure you receive your registered time each week by email.

Active Families Melton West

Family Fitness

Where? Cambrian Way Recreation Reserve – meet at the rotunda

When? Tuesdays 24 February – 31 March 6pm

Bring the whole family along! The adults will have a personal trainer push them to the limits, while the kids will be taken for a session of games and practicing their motor skills. The sessions run for around about 45 minutes, What a great way to get fit with the family!
