Is Your Backyard Spring Ready?

Spring is a wonderful time to start enjoying the outdoors with family and friends. Some of us are lucky enough to have the perfect sized backyard for entertaining on those warm nights, others aren’t so lucky and have to make do with the small amount of yard they have. Whatever size your backyard is, you can make it into a lovely outdoor area.

Clean!

It is important to make sure that you give your outdoor entertainment area a good clean. Organise to scrub the pavement with some soapy water and a broom, or if you have decking give it a scrub with some fresh water then look at perhaps giving it a protective coat over. Get all those cobwebs tucked in the corners of the under covered area too! (use a long broom) Also don’t forget that outdoor dining set that has been collecting dust all winter.

De Clutter

This is especially important for those who have a smaller outdoor entertainment area. If you have a few old boxes or lots of knick knacks around, clear them away. De cluttering will make the whole area seem so much bigger than it actually is. You want your outdoor area to be a place of enjoyment and relaxation, a cluttered area will clutter your mind!

Brighten Up!

Nothing is more inviting then the beautiful smell of flowers blooming in spring and nothing is more refreshing! If you have a smaller outdoor area perhaps look at an alternative to placing pot plants on the ground – hang them up. Look for colourful plants that you can hang from your roof, still giving an inviting appearance but not taking up space!

Pests

One thing we all can’t stand in spring is the return of pests! Mosquitos love the warmer weather and so with spring comes the return of these blood sucking creatures! Keep them away naturally by purchasing some citronella candles. Make sure you always have at least one at the table.

Outdoor furniture

When looking for outdoor furniture, be sure that you choose something both practical and comfortable. You want guests to go home feeling relaxed, not in pain because of the harsh chair they had to sit on all evening! You can pick up load of second hand outdoor furniture off of places like gumtree, or Buy Swap Sell sites on Facebook.

Adding value

If you don’t have an outdoor entertainment area you should probably invest some time into trying to organise some kind of area outside where people can enjoy the beautiful Australian spring weather. It could add thousands of value to your home as well!
