The area of Arnold’s Creek changed to the community of Harkness in 2017, when the Melton Council proposed the creation of 11 new suburbs. These changes occurred to ensure that the suburb densities within Melton didn’t reach over 20,000 residents. Within Harkness, the Arnold’s Creek community centre, comprises of two community rooms that can accommodate up to 80 people each, or can be joined to hold up to 150 people. The same centre includes a children’s centre, which features multipurpose rooms, maternal and child health services and kindergarten programs.
Within the same area, the Community Pavilion includes a kitchen within a family friendly space that is open to the public for use. Not to mention being the home to many sporting companies and groups; Melton Centrals Football Netball Club, Melton Centrals Junior Football Netball Club, St Anthony’s Cricket Club and the ITennis coaching academy. To enhance the features of this reserve – a project commenced in October 2018 and expected to finish in mid-2019 – will see an improvement in the support services that are offered at the clinic; and a play space that will include picnic facilities, a flying fox, swings, and an abundance of natural shade from the planting of many trees.
