Cultural Diversity Week
This week is Cultural Diversity Week. Cultural Diversity Week is a week held to recognise and appreciate the vast diversity in our society.
The current population in the Melton/Moorabool area consists of 27.8 percent of residents being born overseas. Cultural Diversity Week gives these residents the opportunity to share with us their culture and traditions.
In conjunction with Diversity Week, Melton Council will be hosting celebrations for Harmony Day at the Caroline Springs Civic Centre on Saturday March the 21st. (193 Caroline Springs Boulevard, Caroline Springs) Activities included are multicultural food, workshops, live music, arts/crafts and kids activities and will take place mostly between 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Harmony Day is a day where we celebrate Australian Diversity, with the message that anyone who calls Australia home, belongs. (From the First Australians to call this wonderful country home to those who have come from many different countries to call Australia home)
Other activities Cultural Diversity Week will host are Filipino, Indonesian and Chinese performances, Italian cooking demonstrations, a bilingual Italian story time and screening of the Indian film The Lunchbox.
If you are looking for some lovely, family fun activities to take part in, head down to Caroline Springs this Saturday for a wonderful vibrant experience.
